Two for Tea

"Tis a noble thing tradition"- and particularly adorable when it involves a 2 year old and tea.

We have started to enjoy a genteel interlude here at the Terrell home each day at 3 o'clock. Mama wakes a sleepy Alyssa Grace and the kettle is put on, we wait for it to sing and commence brewing some tea. While we wait for the tea to become delicious, Alyssa and I prepare the table with her tiny china tea cup and saucer, mama's tea cup and saucer(substancially larger!), the little milk jug and the essential nibbles. Everything is placed carefully and we are almost ready to begin. Alyssa is seated carefully in her "big girl seat" and the tray is attached, a bib is offered and gratefully received so that "tea no go everywhere". We begin a little dance wherein Alyssa and I delight in each others company and I marvel at how proper a little girl can be, given a china tea cup of her own.
