The following is taken from an email sent to my husband this morning. He recommended it for this blog:
"To commence the morning, at the four way stop just up the road, I discovered we had to return home to retrieve some cash, not a promising start and so I ventured to the store with fear. When we arrived at the store, it was a little crazy - particularly the grocery department - but I stayed there only to find they didn't have what I was looking for and so we escaped to the other side of the store. Here I thought I would find solice in the pharmacy area- surely no-one would be fighting over the breathe-rite strips isle - BUT THEY WERE!!! Crazy shananigans going on...so I left and proceeded to get some plastic containers to help organize our little girls closet and basically...life! All this was done with a two year old - who was VERY good and an infant in a very pooped up outfit and car seat - no I didn't have a change of clothes for her (bought an outfit at the store)! Alyssa ended up in my arms as I pushed this cart laiden down with goodies - that really weren't that exciting, except for last minute potty training incentives - M&Ms. We left like this and walked to the truck where I had the wonderful task of stripping Ella Kathryn and basically giving her another bath - the wind was so strong we may have well have been in the open air on top of a hill. Ella Kathryn had of course done her worst diaper EVER with poop all up her back, legs, arms and eventually face. She HATED the precious moment in the back of the truck, and in fact, I think she felt betrayed by her mama for this unpleasant experience! We then needed a treat, so we went to a fast food joint wherein Alyssa had a kids' meal with a strawberry shortcake doll and I had some caffeine accompanied by fries and a sandwich! Ella Kathryn was still screaming as if someone had amputated her leg, rather than changed her diaper - but Alyssa's teddy seemed to do the trick.
We left, got home and I proceeded to take a desperate mother (Belle, our dog) out into the yard to do her thing...she did nothing...so we came in and got her all sorted out with some lunch and new bedding. I started laundry and thought it best that Alyssa should take a nap. Before doing this, however, Alyssa and I thought we would unload the truck -oh my! Now, we are in to stay for the rest of the day. Cleaning and organising here I come!"
