Something about variety being a spice

I'm alive and well, thanks for stopping by the ole blog here. Within a few months, I'll hit the 5-year anniversary mark for my presence here at this particular blog address. The archives from day one through today tell an interesting story, though I've carefully ensured that they don't tell the whole story.

I'd say that a full 90% of my writing here has been religious in nature, and of course, there are some posts which directly contradict others since I have changed my position a few times on a few issues! I am not naive to the fact that over the years (and certainly prior to blogging), my stated views have caused some agitation, alienation, appreciation, and adulation. My religious vacillations (or progressions, depending on your perspective) have brought me closer, taken me away, and brought me closer again to some friends and family.

And this blog was formerly a part of all that, but in the last six months or so, I've been inclined to disable the archives and only write on non-controversial topics. Interestingly, I've found that such topics don't really inspire me to write a whole lot. I enjoy writing, but you know, it can be a bit difficult to stir up the writing passion when the subject matter is being kept so tame.

So you the reader suffer from not having as many opportunities to read my thoughts, and when you do, there is nothing much intriguing here. But you the reader also benefit from being spared from any of my ideas to which you might be vehemently opposed.

I simply don't have as much interest lately in alienating folks who happen to not see things the way I do. Maybe I've been stung by some kind of tolerance bee or something. But it's refreshing not to be all wound-up about whether a particular friend or family member has all of their proverbial ducks in a row. I am not the thought police or the religion police.

Ironically, this present posture of mine will be offensive to some of my former acquaintances who occasionally drop by here.
