Please take time to read an excellent article from a Catholic priest who was formerly a Protestant minister. The title is "The Best Time to be a Priest?" and can be found HERE.
Describing how difficult his departure from Protestantism was, Father Hughes says, "Only years later was I able to affirm, as I now do without hesitation, that entering the Catholic Church was the best thing I have ever done."
Father John Jay Hughes is a church historian and priest in the St. Louis Archdiocese. He was born in New York City in 1928 as the son and grandson of Anglican priests. He served as a priest in the Episcopal Church for six years before becoming a Roman Catholic in 1960 and a Catholic priest in 1968.
