Last night, we drove into town and went to the Searcy Holiday of Lights, which is a very nice and extensive display in a city park. We've driven by plenty of times much to the delight of Alyssa who always registers a loud "Oooooohhh!" But last night, we pulled in and walked around a bit, up close and personal with the lights.
The main event was Saint Nicholas riding around the walking trail in a horse-drawn carriage. For a small contribution, we hopped in a carriage for a trip 'round the park, except ours was driven by one of the big man's assistants. (The line to actually ride with Saint Nicholas was far too long!) Anyway, our driver was explaining to Alyssa that with Christmas coming up, the reindeer were resting at the North Pole while the horses helped Santa in Searcy. Alyssa (who just turned two years old) promptly responded: "Reindeer taking a break."
Shona and I are getting to the point that we take little things like that for granted, but the driver pointed out to us how smart Alyssa is, which was very nice.
