Belle is now roughly 3 1/2 years old and still quite playful. She is a registered yellow lab and has been ours since she was born on a family farm belonging to some friends of ours in Kentucky.
She has a fenced-in, roomy area of wilderness within 100 feet of the house, which is where she spends most of her days, and we bring her into the basement at night. Except for the occasional activity of critters in and around her outside pen, she leads a simple life.
Now and then, she manages to get loose and do a bit of roaming before we can track her down and get her back. Today was one of those days. A neighbor managed to get hold of her and keep her until I picked her up on my way home this evening. Thankfully, it didn't turn out to be that big of an ordeal, but it was certainly an unanticipated blip in my evening plans.
