the Saturday of Labor Day weekend

Today is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I’ve just stepped off the tractor (though I’m not quite done mowing the yard) to come in and journal a bit.

It is a beautiful day. The heat is not intolerable. There’s been enough recent rain so that the grass is green. The breeze today is quite nice, and there are absolutely no clouds in sight – not even the light, feathery kind. The sky is crisp blue and it really does feel like Autumn is just round the bend.

Four years ago, the Saturday of Labor Day weekend was just like this (except maybe just slightly cooler). And, at about this time of the afternoon (it is 2:00 as I write), Shona and I were making commitments to one another that would forever change our lives. We were married on September 1, 2001.

We celebrated our anniversary on the 1st this week, but today could also be considered the anniversary. We are celebrating four wonderful years together and we look forward as this anniversary is the beginning of our fifth wonderful year together. The Lord has been gracious to our small family and we trust Him to continue showing mercy and helping us to glorify Him in all things.

Thank God for the little reminders he gives us of the mercy that He has shown us.
