About a year ago, I encountered a blog post which questioned the wisdom of popular lists designed to diagnose the health or legitimacy of a church. In the end, the blogger wrote about the fact that the truths of God are not reducible to such lists, and that, "It would do us well to forsake our lists and squirm a little."
And squirm is just exactly what we would do if we didn't hold onto our lists. Without our handy lists, how do we know if a church is legitimately "Christian" and part of THE Church?
