From the "Did You Know?" Department

The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas regularly publish a nice little magazine called Rural Arkansas. It usually contains all sorts of bits and bobs, some useful and some not. But the feature stories can be counted on to provide something at which to raise the eyebrows and say, "Oh, that's interesting." So it came as no surprise that I had just such a response to the main feature in the edition which arrived yesterday.

One customer of an electric cooperative in Arkansas is a small church in a very rural setting (not altogether unique in this respect). The church was started by a couple who built a small chapel on their land basically for family worship. As a few folks who shared their beliefs found out about them and their chapel, they began to gather as a mission of another church. The group continued to grow in number and the chapel was expanded and they were eventually recognized as an official Mission in their denomination. Now, some drive for several hours to attend Lord's Day worship there. This has all developed within the last 15 years since the couple obtained the land.

More information and a few pictures can be found here: All Saints of America - a Mission under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of New York and Eastern America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia.
