My Contribution to the Auburn Avenue Hubbub

I have decided to briefly step into the hullabaloo surrounding the 2002 Auburn Avenue Pastor's Conference, The Federal Vision, Reformed Covenantalism, etc. All I offer is a small bit of advice and some links for helpful reading. First, before you publish a strong opinion on this matter, may I suggest that you attempt to pray and study the relevant Scriptures at least half as much as the men on the receiving end of recent condemnations. Second, if you find it absolutely necessary for the defense of your own honour as a Christian to publicly denounce the teaching of ordained pastors, please avail yourself of the resources which will help you accurately represent their teaching.

To this end, I have assembled some links which were already easily accessible to the general public, but which seem to go generally ignored by those wishing to puff themselves up with the notion of being strong truth defenders in this matter:
1. 2002 Auburn Avenue Pastor's Conference on SermonAudio.com
2. Christ Kirk's Summary of a Portion of the Hubbub
3. "Covenant, Baptism, and Salvation" from the Auburn Avenue Presbyterian Church
4. "Offical Response to RPCUS" from AAPC
5. Federal Vision, a collection of essays from the primary suspects
6. Reformed Is Not Enough, a clear explication of the objectivity of the covenant, written by Wilson himself
7. "Offical Response to RPCUS" from Messiah's Congregation
8. Credenda Agenda addressing these issues
9. Wilson article on objectivity
10. CREC Examination of Wilson

Here are a few email addresses through which you might find some helpful dialogue or at least some direction to other available resources if you have questions:
Pastor John Barach, jbarach (at) telus (dot) net
Pastor Doug Wilson, christkirk (at) moscow (dot) com
Pastor Steve Wilkins, swilkins (at) auburnavenue (dot) org
Pastor Rich Lusk, rlusk (at) auburnavenue (dot) org
Pastor Mark Horne, mark (at) hornes (dot) org
Pastor Steve Schlissel, Steve (at) schlissel (dot) com
Pastor Peter Leithart, leithart (at) leithart (dot) com
(The inclusion of "Pastor" in front of each name is purposeful, particularly for emphasis that this sampling of men about whom accusations have been carelessly slung and to whom you may write soon is not a list of rogue bloggers or armchair theologians, these are men of God who have been set apart as shepherds for God's flock.)

Here are a few related links:

I will link to this post under "Check These Out" on your right, for future reference. Please do not consider this an exhaustive guide to understanding all of the related issues, but hopefully it will serve as a good start in the right direction. I assure you that the time you will spend getting an accurate perspective on this matter will be well worth every second. If you are blessed with a gracious spirit and a right understanding, I am hopeful that accessing these resources will prevent you from engaging in slanderous sin as some of our brothers have regrettably done.
