Today is the 3rd anniversary of the wedding which changed my life more than any other wedding I had ever attended or will ever attend in my life. On September 1, 2001, Shona and I were married in Louisville, Kentucky. Earlier this year, I wrote a poem for her and I share it with you here:
A Good Wife
You are the delight of my eyes,
And the rejoicing of my heart;
You are an angel and minister of graces innumerable,
My gem of many virtues,
Your voice, my sweetest music,
Your smiles, my brightest day,
Your kiss, the guardian of my innocence,
Your lips, my faithful counselor;
My heart does safely trust in you,
Your character and conduct make you worthy of my trust;
As a vine to a tree, you wreathe a robe of beauty
And a crown of glory for me;
You make my life nobler, stronger, grander,
By the power of your love turning my eyes heavenward;
No matter how the world goes with me during the day,
Returning home, I am met with a fragrant atmosphere of love.
Indeed, an excellent wife is worth far more than rubies;
I have obtained favor from the Lord in you.
