Winds of change vs. the rock of right doctrine -
God's Word is not capable of error and is never-changing. However, the understanding of God's Word, to which any believer holds dear, is capable of error and change. Some change in understanding is considered "growth," while other change is considered "instability." This judgment is only properly evaluated according to God's Word, but is often made by individuals based on their own understanding. I hope I am never charged with being blown by every wind of doctrine; I hope it is always clear that I seek to stand on the firm ground of the Scriptures in every area. Sometimes that means that I must humbly confess error and then change my understanding to better conform with my Holy God's revealed will. I pray that God will be glorified even when I fail to properly understand Him.
