Christmas to Remember -

This has been a Christmas to commit to memory. Alyssa was adorable in her "Baby's First Christmas" outfits today, and even more adorable was the fact that she slept a full eight hours straight last night for the first time in her life. As is quite normal during Christmas with my family, all present this morning were showered with many gifts. I had an interesting thought as I opened what seemed like the 607th present today: Doesn't it become difficult to remain truly thankful for each gift we receive when we receive so many gifts? Being the beneficiary of so much generosity so regularly can be quite difficult when it comes to being appreciative. Our God is never-ceasing in the blessings He pours out on us, and the magnitude of His grace toward us should cause us to sing out in adoration and thankfulness every day.

Another interesting note about this holiday...attending what was probably my 20th Christmas eve service at my parents' PCUSA church, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the gospel accurately and clearly proclaimed from the pulpit last night. Though I tend to regard the PCUSA as an assembly of churches consisting of many individuals with erroneous views of God and His Word, I am comfortable saying that the Word was well-proclaimed in that place for the first time that I can remember.

(PCUSA is Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A., one of several distinct branches of American presbyterianism.)
