This is an excerpt from the obituary which ran in the state's main paper on Sunday:
Doyle Terrell, 92, of Crossett died Feb. 29, 2008. He was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Humnoke, Ark., the son of Charles E. and Birdie Poole Terrell. He served in the United States Army Air Corps in the south Pacific during World War II. He had lived most of his life in Norphlet and Smackover, Ark. He worked in petroleum refining for 46 years, retiring in 1982 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cross Oil and Refining Company. His was a long life of service including over 20 years in elected positions at the City of Norphlet, where he was mayor. Doyle was a Mason. He served as president of the Norphlet School Board, president of the Smackover Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Smackover Lions Club. He was a member of the Oilmen’s Twenty-Five Year Club, the American Petroleum Refiners Association, and the American Petroleum Institute.
In Crossett, Doyle served as Chairman of the Business and Industry Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, was active with the SCORE committee of the Chamber of Commerce and the Crossett Area Food Bank. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Crossett.
In addition to his parents, Doyle was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorine McCargo Terrell, and a sister, Olene Terrell Clark.
