Birth Control / Gun Control

I recently read a comment in our state's primary newspaper regarding birth control. Apparently, it is a relatively popular belief these days that government schools should distribute birth control advice and condoms to young people because of the likelihood that at least some percentage of young people are going to engage in some sort of premarital sexual relations (the modern term for what was known at one time as fornication).

Hmmmmm....

This seems logical on the face of the thing, but then again, the appearance of logic is often in the eye of the beholder and the beholder who runs this blog has imbibed as a young person some of the government's kool-aid on this matter. So, I know that I need to step back and evaluate whether the appearance of logic in this case is safe to trust.

Well, it's not.

Helping young people to not have to deal with the all of the outward consequences of "premarital sexual relations" seems like a noble cause, ... unless you consider fornication to be a sin against our Holy and Triune God. What we have here is a failure to think of and call sin by its name. What we have here is a lazy way of dealing with a problem rather than correcting it at its root.

What would you say if your local government school put out an announcement tomorrow reading something like this... "In light of statistics regarding gun crimes among teenagers in our nation, we will begin distributing bulletproof vests to the children of this community so that if they choose to engage in gun fights, they have an increased likelihood of survival. We are not encouraging gun fights, but the fact is that some children enjoy guns and fighting and may have a particular affinity for the rush that accompanies shooting people and being shot at. We want to partner with parents, not by taking a harsh or judgemental stance against gun fights, but by offering the children tools to help keep them safe while they engage in this activity."
