Dear brother,
A long while back, you asked me to share with you how I came to the conclusion that my family should become Catholic, and it has taken me far too long to reply. Instead of sending you a quick, short, relatively easy answer, I decided to take the opportunity to formulate an appropriately long answer. Thank you for your rather abundant patience, and I hope that my delay has not caused your interest to wane.
Please bear in mind that the overall story is not really a simple one, and I am certainly cutting a corner or two so as to keep this letter from becoming a full-blown book. Also, while I would love to convince you to become Catholic, I am not setting out here with the explicit intent to persuade you of my beliefs; I am merely trying to describe some of the more basic elements that convinced me to become Catholic.
Two issues seem to have been among the most fundamental in the thought process which led to my conversion.
1) All people are called to repent and believe the gospel, subjecting themselves in faith to the living Word and faithfully abiding in our One Lord Jesus Christ … and
2) All people ought to pursue the right understanding and application of God's Word, thereby seeking to glorify and enjoy God according to His revealed will.
