Time keeps on zipping

It was just a couple of weeks ago that I was enjoying some amazingly beautiful autumn color all around my house on some cool, crisp days and thinking, "Wow, fall is already here?!?" Then I went away for a couple of days and came back to less beautiful color as all of the trees seemed to be joining their voices of color into a unison of orangish, brown deadness. This morning, after an evening of strong winds, I'm looking out my window onto what looks like late autumn / early winter. Checking the calendar, I realize that we are now only six weeks from Christmas! Where did this year go?

Ella Kathryn is running around the house, and like an avid cheerleader who is 100% committed to one cause, she chants "Mama, mama, mama, mama!" Lately, her communications are increasing in sophistication slightly, but we're pretty certain that the word Mama has multiple uses in her vocabulary. Like if she holds up her milk cup and says Mama five times, we're pretty sure she is intending to communicate, "May I have more please?" She has shifted from being a baby to being a little girl all too quickly.

Alyssa regularly surprises us with some indication of growing up far too fast. She, like her little sissy, is beautiful and smart. Her memory is truly astounding. She easily repeats nursery rhymes, and sings songs, and remembers prayers too. She's speaking more clearly which makes phone conversations fun when I'm on the way home from work. Although, yesterday she started calling me Dad instead of Daddy. I didn't like that so much. But overall the conversation was cute as she asked me to bring home some cheddar cheese from the grocery store, oh and some eggs for mama. And she was right, I really was supposed to pick up both of those things. But she also asked for milk for Ella Kathryn even though none was needed. She's amazing. Alyssa will be turning three next week. Three years old...unbelievable.

I started this blog about three years ago when Little Miss Alyssa was just a wee lass. A lot has changed since then as time just keeps on zipping by. They say time flies when you're having fun. I must be having fun. I know one thing for sure, whether I'm having "fun" or not, I am one happy dude.
