Initial Descent

The road to our house is not very inviting. It is a gravel road with insufficient gravel and some significant altitude changes. For people who have dared to drive to our house, one of the aspects of our road that tends to stick in the mind is the feeling of being in a pinball machine, alternating off of the center of the road to avoid a rut, staying clear of the left at one point due to wash-out, steering away from the right because of some heavy brush crowding the road, etc....you get the picture.

Slowly, but surely, we are taking steps to improve the road, and this week, we got a huge boost in the right direction when the power and phone utility folks came out and cleared a 25 to 30 foot strip along the side of the road. I mean, they cleared it, for real. It is truly a dramatic difference as you make the initial descent on our road.

I am very pleased, though this does leave us more vulnerable to the curious country driver who previously may have avoided the area because it was so daunting.
