It does not require a great deal of inspection in our present age to see manifestations of our Saviour’s expression regarding tares among the wheat. (Check Matthew 13:24,25) What is the meaning of the men sleeping? It is certainly not a reference to God sleeping. We, the husbandry from the parable, neglect our fields and sleep as the enemy sows tares, and our unbelief is apparent. Our faith in Christ’s words is weak and we act as if we can have “dominion” without paying careful attention. Dear reader, be assured, if the shepherd prefers sleep instead of tending the flock, the sheep will be devoured. If the farmer prefers sleep instead of tending his field, the tares will flourish.
As we endeavor to grow in the likeness of our King, let us keep watch over those various areas of dominion through which God has wisely chosen to grow us.
