Imputation

Whatever can be said about the biblical use of “imputation,” I hope no one is advocating that the term is synonymous with “infusion.” I was listening to Romans on tape yesterday and a phrase jumped out at me as if I had never encountered it at all.

Paul quotes the 32nd Psalm, “Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”

I’m not aware of anyone wanting to affirm that the Lord would infuse anyone with sin. Trying to make the two terms synonymous would put you in a position to understand David and Paul to have believed that the Lord does infuse some with sin.
