Sometimes, the phrase "It's too late for that," is somewhat insignificant. For instance, if you are having pancakes for breakfast and you pour the syrup and it's blueberry, but you wanted maple, then someone might say, "Oh, I'll get the maple syrup." Well, with the blueberry syrup already on the pancakes, you say, "It's too late for that," and you carry on eating because it's not like blueberry syrup is bad.
But other times, the phrase is a bit more significant. Like if you remove the brakes from your van and your neighbor is going to put the new brakes on, then the next morning as you're driving down a rather steep hill together you ask, "Did you put the new brakes on?" And the answer comes back, "No, actually, I didn't have time. Let's go back and I'll take care of that for you." Well, at that point, you'd be screaming, "It's too late for that!!" and that would be a very memorable use of that phrase.
While completely unrelated to syrup or brakes, tonight I used the phrase "Too late...too late," and it was very significant. I'm thankful for God's sovereignty and mercy.
