Wilson's Electrician

You may thank Jim Bob Howard for this entry. After I sent him this brief note, he recommended that I post it to my blog, which seemed like a good idea to me.

Regarding Pastor Doug Wilson's recent parable on his blog, I shared my initial impression:

Pastor Wilson seems to be extolling the simplicity and effectiveness of a child's faith over against the adult's burdensome intellectual view of faith. He may intend such a parable to point out that many pious adults cannot fathom the real inclusion of children in the Kingdom because a common and faulty view of salvation requires an unbiblical achievement of some special, intellectual understanding of how faith works.

And, adding to that initial impression:

I would point out that there was no extraordinary feat or conversion story which prompted the man to inquire about the boy's faith, the visible manifestation of true faith left the man in bewilderment, who would normally only expect to count as brothers, those who have a credible capacity to bicker over the definition of faith.
