Can you say 'ironic?'

"A state mandate to create a parental involvement will force other school districts to do the same."

This is not a law enforcement report, but comes from the same news source. It appears that among those parents who send their children to be raised by the government for nearly 40 hours per week, some are not serious enough about being involved with their child's education. What a crazy thought!

So now, the state, the guardian and trainer of its citizens children, has decided that parents need to get involved. Can you step back and grasp the big picture here? The state's involvement in raising children, a result of abdication, has evolved to the point that they can mandate that the abdicating parents chip in and help train the children.

Maybe I'm dreaming, but think of that letter from the government to the parents:

"Dear Sir or Madam,
It has come to our attention that we are the civil government and not your children's parents. Our efforts at raising decent children have proven futile. Those among our graduates who turn out to be godly covenant-keeping adults, do so in spite of us rather than because of us. You turned your children over to us hoping to escape responsibility for their training, but you have not succeeded. Not only did you retain responsibility regardless of such delegation, we are now mandating that you step up to the plate and act like parents. It is not enough for you that God has already commanded in this regard, rather we are now putting you in a position to be in civil disobedience if you turn your children over to us and do not at least cooperatively train them yourself.
Respectfully yours,
Department of Education"
