Still not having taken time to digest the entirety of both articles I recently linked, I have given some thought to the principle of considering such ideas as a Christian monarchy’s comparison/contrast with a democratic republic.
I have only just this morning finished watching my wife’s favorite movie, based on a favorite novel by Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice. I had not before been privileged to watch this movie and I am sorely disappointed that I have not seen it until now. Some of the very attractive attributes of the story caused me to think more on this monarchy issue.
Particularly I would note this, that it is possible to think fondly of a bygone era and to draw upon the finer characteristics of such an era for application in the modern world, without drinking so deeply and indiscriminately from such a well as to ingest and exhibit all of the potentially poisonous errors and excesses.
Such a sentiment could also have application in other areas such as theology.
