Liberty -

Prayer is needed in many, many ways these days. We ought always to be a people of prayer, with genuine, humble reliance on our Sovereign King. But occasionally we have reason to be slightly overwhelmed by the sin in our culture.

As Christians, we encounter opposition to simple Biblical Truth. Yes, of course, the pagan culture is always in opposition to Truth. The significance of the encounter I am referencing is that the assault on faithfulness to God sometimes comes from one who professes to love God and seems in other ways to genuinely know God.

Let me be clear on a danger of which Christians need to beware. When someone is in clear defiance of Biblical Truth and they defend themselves with the Scriptures relating to liberty, we need first to be sure we understand the Truth which they are defying, then we need to fight and reclaim the Scriptural concept of liberty. It is sickening to think of a professing Christian wrongly applying Scripture to justify blatant compromise.
