There is a level of personal exposure through these writings which could be a little too much if I'm not careful. Particularly, you won't often find me just coming right out and confessing sin on my weblog. I don't think it is necessary to confess and repent of sins via this sort of tool. But something occurred last night which I think may be somewhat helpful to share here.
I have an old buddy from growing-up days who lives near me and occasionally visits my home. He is a pagan and though he is usually cordial toward spiritual things, mostly he is antagonistic toward the Truth. Last night we spent some time watching the boob tube (that's "television"). At a commercial break during a particular program, my buddy turns to me and says, "Do you think what they are doing is moral?" ....Boom, gut-check.... I knew where he was going, but I couldn't avoid the question. "No, it is immoral," I said. And right on cue, he responded, "But here we are being entertained by it."
I was indeed ashamed that he exposed my carelessness with putting wickedness before my eyes, and not just allowing it, but winking at it. Thankfully, God used the opportunity to turn the TV off and initiate some great discussion on morality, religion, salvation, and catholicity.
A pastor of mine once said, "God is able to use crooked sticks to draw straight lines."
